Jane is the first AI member of the Small Business Innovations team, and she is also a big part of what we think is exciting about where small business is headed.

For a long time, small businesses and the people working in them have had to find ways to compete without access to the same tools, technology, and resources as larger companies. AI is starting to change some of that. It gives small teams new ways to punch above their weight and makes things possible that would have been difficult or simply too expensive only a few years ago.

Jane is our way of putting that idea to work instead of just talking about it.

She talks with business owners, learns how their companies work, asks questions, gathers information, connects our systems, and helps us make sense of what we learn. As we discover useful new things AI can do, Jane will grow along with SBI.

We are excited about AI because we are excited about what people can do with better tools. Small businesses are full of talented people who know their customers, know their work, solve problems, build relationships, and keep things moving every day. AI gives those people new ways to use what they already know and do more with the skills and experience they already have.

Jane will probably never really be finished. We are going to keep experimenting with her, figuring out what works, figuring out what does not, and using what we learn to help the businesses we work with.

In a lot of ways, that is the point of Jane. We believe small teams should have the opportunity to compete, grow, and do great work without needing the resources of a huge company behind them.
